Named Endowment Funds

These funds have specific criteria as defined by the individual donors as well as being subject to the general criteria of the Nikau Foundation.

Named Endowment Funds

The general criteria for these funds are:

• To make the region a better place to live
• To advance the underlying health and wellbeing of the community
• To address future and emerging needs
• To make a difference in the medium / long term
• To develop the communities skills and knowledge
• To create positive change
• To foster effective partnerships

The donor’s wishes may override these criteria.

The following Named Endowment Funds criteria, guided by the general criteria as above, are as follows:

Elma Coxon Trust
Income to be distributed at the Trustees’ discretion

Laurie Bushell Endowment Fund
The arts in general, with an emphasis on initiating an award for portraiture in drawing.

Willscott Endowment Fund
Income to be distributed at the Trustees’ discretion.

The following organisations to be favoured:

• NZ School of Dance
• The Samaritans of Wellington
• Aubert Childcare Centre

Kevin and Julia O'Connor Endowment Fund
Income to be distributed at the Trustee's discretion.

The following organisations to be considered:

• The Roman Catholic Church for promotion and assistance with their charitable objectives and social works
• Wellington Free Ambulance
• Royal Wellington Golf Club Inc

This fund has been established with a view to growth for the first five years. In accordance with this no grants will be made at this stage.

Applications for funding from these funds are by invitation but we do need to be aware of community needs and projects that are being considered.

If you think that you meet the criteria for being considered for a grant please contact us to ensure we know what you are planning. Applications are accepted in June / July each year. Availability of funds is known in August / September each year and decisions are expected to be made in October / November.
