Nikau Kāpiti Fund

The Nikau Kāpiti Fund was launched by Mayor Jenny Rowan in June 2013.

For Kāpiti residents this endowment fund provides the vehicle to appreciate the community where they have lived, worked, played and brought up a family.

This is the first of the district funds we are establishing for those people who choose to give to their local community within the greater Wellington region.

Income from this fund will be distributed to Kāpiti charities from Paekakariki to Otaki once the fund has reached $75,000.

The special appeal of this fund, as with all funds under Nikau Foundation, is that donors know that the capital is invested and the income distributed, and they are helping Kāpiti charities every year, forever.

As at May 31st, 2015, the fund stood at $45,242. Our aim in time is to grow the Fund to $5 million to benefit the Kāpiti community. Kāpiti resident and Nikau Trustee Liz Koh said “It will be great when our district can be self-sustainable for our charitable needs”.

In the last two years Nikau Foundation has made grants of over $43,000 to the Kāpiti area, including Youth Quest Trust in Paraparaumu, Nga Manu Nature Reserve at Waikanae and the Otaki Timebank.

Donors can make a gift now, or leave a gift to the Nikau Kāpiti Fund in their will.
