New Zealand endemic species will benefit from a new named fund, the Bice Tennyson Endowment Fund, established in February 2014 for habitat protection. This fund will also support people with a disablement. An initial sum was given with the donor intending to build on this over the next few years to reach the $75,000 required to start making grants.
The Kapiti Community Enterprises Endowment Fund has been established this year by the handover of a Charitable Trust. Rod Lingard had been running a horticultural enterprise to give training and employment opportunities for handicapped people. The plant nursery has now been closed, the assets realised and the capital given to Nikau Foundation. The income from this fund will continue to support handicapped people in the Kapiti region.
