With the ongoing stress placed on young people who identify as LGBTIAQ, Nikau Foundation has stepped in to help research costs in hopes to reduce this stress. Research done by Vibe (Hutt Valley Youth Health Trust) concludes that 85% of LGBTIAQ youth had been verbally harassed at school because of their sexual orientation or gender identity. The grant from the Tindall Foundation enabled Vibe to undertake exploration about what the needs are for LGBTIAQ. It also enabled Vibe to research what the best practices may be and some recommendations to increase their responsiveness to Rainbow Youth.
“On behalf of the Vibe team, I would like to thank the Nikau Foundation for choosing to support us with this project. We look forward to sharing the journey with you over the coming months.” Says Bridget Roche
VIBE received a $5,000 grant from the Tindall Foundation.
